Soft Tissue Rehab Specialist
My passion for the body and all things health related started at the early age of seven. I remember learning about the digestive system from the mouth, through the esophagus and into the gut. I was amazed by this whole process and spent time in the library learning more about the body and how it worked instead of being on recess. I had learned so much by the time I reached High School that I was asked to teach a class to my pears on nutrition and body building. It was fun! I guess I started teaching at a very early age and that trend has followed me all through life.
My health care experience started as a volunteer at one of the local hospitals at the age of 22. They liked me so much, and I was so good with patient care, they asked if I would get a CNA license so I could spend more time with patients, so I did. That led me to being asked if I would get my RN so back to school I went once more. I had just left a hospital I was working at when all of the sudden I found myself waking up to a caved in drivers side door and people all around. I had been broadsided by someone and had significant injuries. Confined to a wheelchair for most activities and having closed head injuries I was immobile, speechless (from the closed head injury) and had amnesia. I was a mess. I was given all kinds of prescription medications none of which I knew anything about. I remember being told by my Neurologist that I may never gain the ability to properly form sentences as that side of my brain was badly injured and the back injury I sustained may make it difficult to live a normal life. By a miracle, six months later, I was able to walk, talk and function again. I was in the 2% of people who survive the accident I was in. Frustrated with the drugs I was still taking and the limited mobility (spent a lot of time still in bed unable to move) I decided to go back to school once again. I studied nutrition, pharmacology, became a personal trainer and completed 992 hours of soft tissue rehabilitation. I was ready to be free of medications and get on with my life. Finally understanding the body from the cellular level to the exterior functions of the body I was armed with relative experience, knowledge, passion and belief that others too, can live medication free, pain free and live in motion! Over the past 15 years I have been an active part in helping others live the same kind of life. I have been a regional educator for large companies life Lifetime fitness and places like Elements Massage as well as countless private practice massage businesses wanting to add therapeutic modalities to their practice.
I am excited about this next chapter in my life. As a therapeutic bodywork educator, I aim to bring all my experience, techniques, expertise, passion, and knowledge to the teaching platform, empowering others to help people recover, perform, and enhance their daily lives, just as I have…….to help people become all they were created to be.
Being fit, healthy, and mobile is essential for living a full life, and having the right financial resources is just as important. Are you prepared for the future? Life happens, and not always in the most favorable way. As a mom who lost her son at the age of 22, her only brother fifteen months later, and, her dad in 2022, I understand that life doesn't always play by the rules we would like it to. Please, be prepared. I urge you.
